Art in Miniature

The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is an inclusive community pursuing research and re-creation of pre-seventeenth century skills, arts, combat and culture. Participants gain hands-on knowledge of history through activities, workshops, demonstrations, and events. In the SCA, Cheryn is known as Merwenna de Rannowe, a member of the Order of the Laurel in the Kingdom of Atlantia. Although she isn't active with the SCA at the moment, she credits much of her art style, skills, and nerdy audacity to the warm and inquisitive teachings of her SCA family.

Cheryn/Merwenna was one of three apprentices to Mistress Gwerfyl verch Aneirin (aka Nancy Hulan of Arte of the Booke), along with Baroness Letia Thistlethueyt (aka Charlotte Hayes of Shutterbug's Creations) and Eilionora inghean an Bhaird. Mistress Isemay the Nimble (@fink.illustrates) is her scribal cousin/co-conspirator.
